Oneida Herkimer Madison BOCES was constructed in the 1970’s and serves 12 component school districts in a three county area. Their operations are primarily headquartered on a 96 acre campus in New Hartford, NY. By 1994, their facilities had expanded well beyond those which could be accommodated on their New Hartford site and they held 18 leases for sites off campus. OHM BOCES recently completed a comprehensive additions and alterations project that consolidated and centralized their services to one location. The project included 90,000 square feet of new construction and 150,000 square feet of renovations to the two major structures on the New Hartford campus. Full inclusion and mobility was provided between the Alternative Education, Special Education, and Career and Technical Education programs using the new construction to join the once separate facilities. For security and control, the administrative complexes for the various divisions are located at the main entrances to the respective centers. Now complete, the complex features state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms, shops, and support spaces with highly efficient operating systems, including a new geothermal well field.
